Executive Officer (holding the functional title of Assistant Marketing Manager) in the Hong Kong University Press (Ref.: 526260) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

As the HKU Press approaches its 70th anniversary in 2026, the Assistant Marketing Manager will help to build up the profile for the Press locally and internationally through social media, digital marketing, and collaborations with our overseas partners including especially University of Chicago Press and Ingram UK.  This is an outstanding opportunity to engage the academic publishing environment with a long-established global brand which has authors and bookselling partners around the world, as well as some innovative digital projects in development.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the appointee will help devise and implement a winning promotion strategy for all of our books – currently 25-30 new titles each year in English and Chinese. He/She will develop excellent relationships with our authors, coordinate book reviews with local and overseas media and journals, arrange media interviews, coordinate overseas and local book fairs, write engaging content to broaden the reach of each publication and assist on ad hoc marketing projects and events. 

Applicants should possess a recognized degree with at least 3 years’ of publishing industry or related publication marketing experience. They should be a creative thinker, able to work effectively under pressure and adapt quickly to new challenges. Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese are a must; knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe, social networking media and websites are also essential. Experience in writing marketing copy and creating publicity materials for academic and trade audiences is highly desirable.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
